For its 16th year in a row, the La Jolla Concours d’Elegance will grace the southern California coast, in none other than the jewel of San Diego through the weekend of Friday, April 17-19.
The La Jolla Concours d’Elegance was born in 2003 and began as just a dream of a few local business owners who wanted to showcase the beauty and charm of downtown La Jolla. Since then, the annual event has honored various types of fine automobile gems from horseless carriages to 50’s classics to American, British, and Italian sports cars.
This year, the La Jolla Concours d’Elegance has chosen Bugatti to honor as the 2020 marque, marking 110 years since the first Bugatti automobile was produced for the public. They will also be honoring the Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing as the sub-marque of the weekend, which was the sports car of the century in 1999.
For any car enthusiast, this is the event of the year一combining beautifully crafted vehicles with extravagant parties, the creme de la creme of cuisine, and a show of lavish festivities.
“Concours” comes from a French word meaning “a crowd or confluence of things; also a park promenade.” The term is often associated with the finer things in life; couture, blooming flowers, champagne, and art. This novel event has been constructed around this idea of luxe一every year with a new and unique spin on the original concept.
Saturday night will be a fabulous night at the Le Cabaret Du Concours with exotic cocktails, dynamic entertainment and underground performances, and a one-night-only Concours Casino.
The rest of the weekend will host a variety of social clubs, lively entertainment, and of course an impressive fleet of automobiles from all over the world.
Tickets for the event can be found here and all proceeds from the event will go towards the La Jolla Historical Society, a nonprofit that seeks to both preserve and share the uniqueness of La Jolla and serve as a resource for the community.
